Maruoka Castle

Normally when I stay at Houshi it us usually only for one night and don't get very farrow the inn. This time I rented a car as I knew that their are a few attractions in the area that are nit that easy to get to by public transport.  First stop is Maruoka Castle,  the oldest of the 12 remaining original castles in Japan. While there a quite a few castles in Japan all but a dozen are reconstructions on the original sites. I haven't seen all of the originals yet. Maruoka is a fairly small and simple Castle but one thing of note is that it has a really sleep staircase (67degrees).

Tokyo Disneyland has a reputation for putting on a spectacular night parade and the illuminated floats are certainly something to see. Normally the parade would be followed by fireworks but they were cancelled due to weather.  Japan has not only been experiencing high temperatures for this time of year but there has also been some strong winds.
